Pens Hammer Islanders

The Penguins ended the home portion of the regular season with a 6-1 win over the Islanders Thursday night at the Igloo. Mathieu Garon stopped 28 of 29 shots in picking up his second win since coming over in a trade with Edmonton.

Evegni Malkin recorded two assists to increase his lead in the league scoring race to four points over Washington's Alexander Ovechkin. Malkin has 112 points with a game left; Sidney Crosby with a goal and an assist last night is third in the race with 103 points.

The Pens end the regular season Saturday at Montreal and then begin preparations for the post season.
